This evening, Gov. Seyi Makinde held a press briefing after meeting the Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force at the Government House, Agodi, Ibadan.
The Governor made it known that the State Secretariat will be reopened on Monday, April 27, 2020, with the resumption of civil servants at level 13 upward who has personal/separate offices.
He added that the following guidelines are in place to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19 within the secretariat:
He further stated that Posters and Banners will be in conspicuous places around the secretariat to revalidate guidelines for resumption.
He made it known that the dusk to dawn curfew in Oyo State will be relaxed from the initial 7PM – 7AM to 7PM – 5AM, so as to accommodate farmers during this planting season.
The farmers are being sensitised on how to stay safe as they farm during this period.
The Governor added that COVID-19 compliant guidelines will be provided for markets, including hand washing and wearing of face masks. Only markets which meet up with these guidelines will be allowed to reopen.
The Governor also used the opportunity to commend the Minister for Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, for the work being done at the national level to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the decentralising the accreditation of isolation/treatment centres to State level so as to be more effective, the Chief Medical Director of the University College Hospital, Ibadan is expected to work with the Commissioner for Health, to set up a five-person accreditation team. He noted that the palliatives by the Oyo State Government are ready for distribution with target based on the data to 90,000 households identified as the poorest of the poor and 30,000 targeted vulnerable households.
The Oyo State Government will also begin the distribution of one million face masks being produced from tomorrow.
These face masks will be distributed for free to market men and women, artisans and civil servants. He added that the patient at Agbami Chest Centre, Jericho will be moved to the Infectious Disease Centre, Olodo in order to upgrade the facilities at Agbami.
