Oyo State Pilgrim Welfare Board (Muslim wing) has confirmed the decision of Saudi Arabia authority to allow only the local Pilgrims of different nationality to perform the Hajj 2020 and cancel the attendance of the international Pilgrims.

The Chairman of the Board, Prof Sayed Malik made the  disclosure while briefing the Journalists about the development in his office at the Hajj Camp, Olodo, Ibadan.

Prof. Malik, stated that the decision was to curb the spread novel coronavirus pandemic that is currently ravaging the whole world, considering the large number of people that will wish to perform the 2020 Hajj.

He added that the decision was  to prevent contact of COVID 19 and  curtail the spread of it among  the  international Pilgrims who we converge in the holy land for 2020 Hajj.

He  hinted all the intending Pilgrims that have deposited their monies with the board that their monies are  intact and safe till 2021 Hajj, adding that those that wish to get their money back are permitted to request for the refund of their monies by writing to the board.

The Chairman further  appreciated the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) under the leadership of Alhaji (Barrister) Kunle Hassan, on behalf of the board members for the unrelent efforts put in place for the 2020 Hajj operation, as we know that man proposes and God disposes.

The Chairman thereafter warned all the 2021 intending Pilgrims that COVID-19 is real and enjoyed them to  join the Oyo State Government in it’s efforts to fight the pandemic by always observing all the protocols listed to prevent this deadly pandemic.
