This afternoon, Gov. Seyi Makinde commissioned the Oyo State Family Court at the High Court of Justice, Iyaganku, Ibadan. The Governor in his address expressed his delight to be part of activities that showcase collaboration between the three arms of Government.
He noted that collective growth is dependent on the synergy between the Executive, Judiciary and Legislature. The Governor also stated that one of the points raised in the Roadmap to Accelerated Development in Oyo State (2019 – 2023) is to play a part in strengthening the laws around the Child Rights Act, 2003.
He noted that the act was domesticated in Oyo State in 2006, but the court where the law was to be enforced was not yet established.
The Governor also called on the good people of Oyo State to contact the Oyo Ministry of Women Affairs Rapid Response Team (OYOMWA-RRT) in cases where any child’s rights, either physical or emotional are violated.
He assured the swift response of the team in making sure the rights of children are protected.
The Chief Judge of Oyo State, Hon. Justice M. L. Abimbola, in his address implored all and sundry to make full use of the court when it commences sitting after the commissioning on Monday, 13th July, 2020.
He appreciated the Governor for prompt payments of subvention, pension and gratuities.
Justice M. L Abimbola also commended the Oyo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Oyelowo Oyewo for serving as a bridge between the judiciary and executive arm of Government.
