….Says Makinde Has Renewed Hope of Good Governance
Residents of Ibadan have commended Governor Seyi Makinde for embarking on asphaltic tarring of the 2nd Gate road of Adeoyo State hospital, Ring Road and giving due attention to the health institution by providing basic infrastructures within the hospital.
Makinde had recently ordered a revamping of the facilities of the hospital as well as rehabilitation of the roads leading to it in order to ease movement of people attending to their healthcare as well as workers.
Rehabilitation of the road started on Monday 26th August as men of the State Roads Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA) resumed there with their heavy machines to work there and on Tuesday began the asphaltic tarring of the road.
Pa Tijani Lawal, a retired civil servant in a chat with journalists said the Governor has shown what the word ‘change’ supposed to be and with the achievements of the new administration within its hundred days, there was hope for good Governance in the State.
“This is not a camouflage change. This is real change and we have seen that the Governor’s strive within his hundred days in the saddle is beyond party affiliation. He has made the people of the State proud because people from other States are wishing he is their own Governor.
“This is a sign that we can still have good leadership in our society like we did during the days of Awolowo. With people like Seyi Makinde everywhere in the country, Nigeria will become an El-dorado. Let our political leaders in Nigeria emulate his gestures. Makinde has started well.”
Ojelabi Tesleem, a generator repairer said the Adeoyo Road has been abandoned since 1991 and the community around the hospital had not seen the kind of development it was witnessing during the Makinde’s administration.
He was amazed by the illumination of the roads in the community which he said had aesthetic impact on the area and the hospital.
“Haven been living at this area before 1991, I have not seen such a great development in this hospital like we have now. You can see infrastructural changes and at night, the premises and the community around look so amazing, as if one is in London,” he enthused.
In another development, residents of Agbowo area in Ibadan who were mostly students of the University of Ibadan have appealed to the State Government to rehabilitate the Omotara Bridge that connected the area to the other communities.
The plea came when the General Manager, OYSROMA, Engr. Modinat Oduola visited the area in company of the Honorable representing Ibadan North State Constituency at the State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebayo Gabriel on Wednesday.
Hon. Adebayo who had earlier during the visit called on the residents to desist from dumping refuse in the stream upon which the bridge was situated appealed to the residents that the present administration would take action on the bridge.
