The Conference of Directors of Agriculture and Natural Resources in Oyo State Local Government Service has pleaded with the Government of the day to make quality food storage facilities available at all levels to prevent unnecessary wastage during harvest seasons.
This plea was made during the closing ceremony of a two-day workshop organized by Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, at Alayande Teachers Resource Centre, Samonda, Ibadan, Oyo State.
In a Communique issued by the Conference and read by Alhaja Aderibigbe Adedoyin, the Conference appreciated the State Government, under the able leadership of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, for lifting the ban on training and retraining of personnel in the service to facilitate more effective and efficient service delivery. It equally advocated for the resuscitation of Farmers Cooperative Society to improve access to farm imputs and implements, adding that “No farmer, no nation; no food, no life”.
Earlier in his Speech, the Commission Chairman, Hon. Aderemi Ayodele, who was represented by a member of the Board, Hon. John Adisa-Oke, reiterated the Commission’s commitment to training of Agricultural Officers so as to boost the economy through modern farming system, adding that it had been noted that the workshop was an impactful one which would reflect at the grassroots.
Speaking further, the Commission boss assured the participants of more local and international trainings which he said was one of the priorities of Engineer Seyi Makinde for the generality of workers.
In his brief remarks, the Workshop Consultant, Priice Taiwo Ayoola, appreciated the participants for behaving well and displaying high level of maturity.
In his vote of thanks, the Conference Secretary, Mr. Kolade Christopher, appreciated the Board and Management of the Commission for capturing the Cadre.
The two-day workshop tagged “Methodology for Agricultural Value Chain Development and Market Linkages at the grassroots”, had Dr. Adesiyan Israel and Dr. Rauf Oyedapo as resource persons.
