OKE’BADAN LCDA is one of the 35 LCDAs created under No.21, vol. 41 gazette of Oyo state by the Executive Governor of Oyo State Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi on 20th October, 2016. It has its headquarters at Eleyele. It was carved out of Ibadan North West Local Government with the sole aim of bringing government nearer to the people so as to ensure rapid socio-economic growth of the people thereby improving the living standard notwithstanding the ubiquitous concentrated complains about the economic crunch of Local councils across the country.
Oke’badan LCDA is bounded in the North by Ido Local Government, in the west by Ibadan West LCDA, in the East by Ibadan North East and in the South by Ibadan South East Local Government. The LCDA is predominantly urban area. It is thickly populated with people of different ethnic groups and of different races with diverse professions.
Oke’badan LCDA has in its jurisdiction Eleyele water works, Army barracks, Police State headquarters and a golf court. The local council has both social and physical infrastructural facilities that include roads, water supply, health centers and housing.
Because the Local government is the commercial centre of the city, majority of its people engage in buying and selling of electronics, building materials, clothes, household utensils, banks and other government owned institutions and parastatals dominate a reasonable part of the commercial portion of the council area.
The Local Council area has the following markets in its jurisdiction; Eleyele market, Oke Padre, Salvation Army Electrical appliances market etc.
The following companies are situated in the LCDA; Fan Milk, , Askar Paint Limited, Oyo State Water Corporation Reservoir at Eleyele,
Oke’Badan LCDA houses the famous Oke’badan hill on which the yearly Oke’badan festival is observed. This hill gives Oke’badan LCDA the edge over other LCDAs at the level of Tourist attraction.
The political administration of Oke’Badan LCDA started under a Caretaker Chairman, Mogaji Samuel Kolawole Ajadi who was sworn-in by His Excellency, Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi on April 7, 2017.
The vox pop conducted across Oke’Badan LCDA reveals that the splitting of the LCDA from Ibadan North West Local Government has indisputably eased up the problems of distribution of resources as well as accessibility of the governing council of the Local Council. This development has contributed much in heightening the living standard of the people and their engagements within and outside the local council development area.
The LCDA through the help of APIN Public Health Initiatives renovated comprehensive health Centre, Oniyanrin for the use of the people in the community.
The LCDA through the help of Nigeria United States for Chambers of Commerce (NUSACC) donated two dialysis machines as health facility for the use of the people in the community
